How to plan your first move with Move Room Planner.
Create a move
Tap “New move”, give it a name and the moving day, pick the rooms of your current and new home and a checklist template. Or open the example move first to see every tool filled in.
Walk through the rooms
In “Rooms & things” add what is in each room. Tap the decision on a thing to switch between take, sell, donate, bin and undecided. Things you take get a room in the new home.
Number and mark the boxes
In “Boxes” add a box: the app suggests the next number, you choose the room. Write the number large on two sides and add a strip of the room colour, as shown under “Write on the box”.
Check the new-home plan
“New home” shows every room with its boxes and furniture. Tap a thing or a box to send it somewhere else. Anything without a room is listed at the top.
Work through the checklist
Tasks are dated from moving day. Tick them off as you go; overdue tasks are marked in red. “Upcoming” shows what is due across all your moves.
Share the plan
Open the menu of a move and choose “Export packing plan”: PDF, CSV spreadsheet or text, for the removal firm or the family.
Questions and answers
How do I change the moving day?
Open the move, tap the menu (three dots) and choose “Edit move details”. Every checklist task keeps its distance to moving day and moves with the new date.
Can I edit the built-in checklists?
Built-in templates stay as they are, but you can duplicate one and edit the copy, or create your own template. You can also save the checklist of a move as a template.
How do I remove the example move?
Go to More › Your data and tap “Remove the example”.
I deleted something by mistake.
Right after deleting, tap “Undo” in the message at the bottom of the screen.
Does the app cost anything?
No. Every function is free. There are no adverts, no in-app purchases and no subscription.
Do I need an account?
No. You open the app and start. Everything is stored on your phone.
Will it remind me of tasks?
The app does not send notifications. Overdue and upcoming tasks are highlighted in the checklist and on the Upcoming screen whenever you open it.
Can I share the plan with the removal firm?
Yes. Export the packing plan as a PDF, a CSV spreadsheet or plain text and send it with any app on your phone.
What if I change phones?
Make a backup under More › Your data and import the file on the new phone.
